Your Favorite Celebs Wear Japanese Gel… Here’s Why You Should Care

Other than being famous…

What do Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Marc Jacobs have in common?

They wear Japanese gel.

And in this video I want to have a quick chat about why this matters to you as a nail artist.

Hey there and welcome back, and if you’re new here…  Welcome, my name is Paola your source for structure gel and niche nail products like Japanese Gel.

About 10 years ago, I became very interested in Japanese Gel.

So much so I even entered a social media contest using Japanese Gel and I won 1st place.

And you can say I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve been certified in multiple brands and I’ve also certified as an educator for those same brands.

As of more recently Cosmopolitan also reached out to me as an expert in the topic of Japanese gel.

Japanese gel has improved so much since I first started using it in 2015.

Back then it was primarily a very art focus concept, whereas today it really competes within the structure gel category making it a super versatile product to niche into, and have success within the salon for comfortable, daily wear among clients..

So what are Japanese Gel Nails?

Japanese gel nails start with products designed or altogether manufactured in Japan.

But it doesn’t really end there. In my opinion, Japanese gel nails or a Japanese gel manicure is a style of doing nails.

And I believe it comes down to these few factors:

  1. Gel made in Japan
    1. Most often from Japanese resins, and definitely with Japanese nail artist’s ingenuity behind them. The brands that seem to have the biggest success, are those that are founded by nail artists themselves
  1. Primarily applied from pots
    1. We love the ease of bottle application, here in America and probably worldwide, but Japanese artists embrace the intricacy and artistry of applying gel from its original form of pots, with the exception of some art gels, that dispense better from bottles.
  1. Designed to facilitate various art styles
  • If there is an art technique you love as a nail artist, there probably is a Japanese gel to help you get it done with ease

Additionally, Japanese gel has a natural nail length focus, which is why the products are primarily soft gel base.

And these may be the reasons why Japanese gel is currently on an upward trajectory and with some of the biggest celebrities wearing it now for years.

It seems like it’s been Beyonce’s go-to product for years, according to some posts that her go to nail artists Miho has shared on her social media.

Miho, also regularly does the nails of Lady Gaga, and Miley Cirus…

And surely there must be some underground celeb fans that we haven’t heard of yet…

And look I’m late to the party because apparently Marc Jacobs has also converted.

Fun fact, Solange’s team, Solange is Beyonce’s sister, reached out to one of my students in Australia, whose focus is Japanese gel, to do her nails on location.

Coincidence, I don’t know… but this I do know… there was certainly Japanese gel involved.

And another student of mine in Oregon also booked Miley Cirus’ sister as a client…

Hey! Wait, when am I going to get my celebrity call?

And of course, if you didn’t know,  Katie Masters of Nail Thoughts also does Lady Gaga’s nails when Miho is unavailable.

So how does this concern you…

Well, clearly Japanese gel sets a standard, an expectation, in nails and as so it attracts edgy, fashion forward, high-end clientele that you can fill your books up with.

And that is nothing to sleep on if you’re feeling edgy, or trendy yourself! Or even if you want to stand out in the nail industry, I know I did…

And I wasn’t super edgy or fashion-forward but styling nails with Japanese gel definitely was and continues to be my joy.

And Japanese gel was one of the main reasons why I was inspired to create my own application program, so that more and more people familiarized themselves with Japanese gel, worldwide, and also learn proper application of it.

And if you’re interested in that course, it is called Master Gel Nails, and you can find the link to it, in the description box below.

I hope today was an inspiring one, and I’ll see you in the next one.
