How To Aura Nails On Structure Gel Overlay | Japanese Gel Manicure Watch Me Work
It’s nail day! The day I get to treat myself to 4-6 hours of doing my own nails while catching up on podcasts or other self-development listens. Yes, a lot of hours, but I certainly look at this day as me-time, and the nails last indefinitely… usually when it’s time to do them again. (Anywhere from 4-7 weeks!)
On the menu today? Aura nails, using the “no airbrush machine” method and, actually, also the “no powder” method.
What are aura nails? Aura nails is nail art on the nails that consists of a concentrated color in the center and then disperses or diffuses from there a bit. It’s like a halo of color in the middle of the nails. The original application method was using an airbrush machine; however, that has caused controversy for many years now as there seems to be a lack of appropriate ventilation and protective gear when nail artists use it. The worry is that the color material can easily enter your respiratory system when aerosolized and thereby be harmful. Alternative methods include using pigment powders, but as someone who believes in doing more with less, I forced myself to make it work with what I had, my Kokoist Japanese gel, and voilá; it worked… impressively good, by the way!
If you have some Japanese gel colors give them a go. As long as they’re slightly viscous and well-pigmented, they should do the trick!
Either way, today, I am doing my nails from start to finish, and besides the Japanese-colored gel, the other star of the show is the twinkle sticker accents I’ll be sprucing up these aura nails with.
